The Best Thanksgiving Ever!!!
Boom! Crash! Vroom! Vroom! We were at ShopRite, a local department store. Now, I know that’s not very exciting. Well, we were here to buy turkey! We ran past the seafood section. P.U.! I don’t like the smell of raw fish. Oh well, that’s the quickest way to the turkey. Oh, thank goodness, the meat section! We found the big bin where the ol’ turkey was and my dad was picking almost every turkey up. At last, he picked up the one he needed! We almost went through every aisle until the canned foods section came. Man, we bought so much gravy! And of course, the stuffing! We almost went to the checkout counter when we forgot the chicken broth for the mashed potatoes. See, we use chicken broth instead of water to add flavor to our mashed potatoes. So we went back to the canned section and found, Swanson Chicken Broth (recycled). Or I think it’s recycled. We went back to a checkout counter but not the same one. Otherwise she’ll think we’re crazy. We bought everything, zoomed into the car and home we went.
Vroom! Vroom! We’re home! We waited for days and days for Thanksgiving day, and it finally came! We woke up extra early, because turkey takes a long time to bake. Then I remembered, the guests are coming at 6:00 p.m. We all rushed downstairs and unwrapped the turkey, well not exactly everybody, just Mom and Dad. Mom went back upstairs to wake us up. Mmmmmm…Uhhhh…5 more minutes, Mummy. “Okay,” she sighed. We know that trick always works. It turned out to be…let’s say… 30 minutes. My mom just remembered us upstairs in bed, so she went back on the fifteen steps and told my sister and I to wake up. So, I woke up and stared at the mirror in front of my bed, as usual, then I remembered to brush my teeth. I went downstairs, barely combing my hair. When I went downstairs, my dad exclaimed, “Go back upstairs and comb your hair properly.” My sister agreed. See, she is a hair freak. She would give anything in the world that she has for anything a hair stylist would have. I’m the exact opposite. I sometimes take good care of my hair, but most of the time, not at all. Especially at home, and every time I go downstairs, I hear, “Go upstairs and comb your hair.”
Now, back to the story. I went back upstairs and combed my hair. Then I went back downstairs and ate my breakfast. Mmmmm…bacon. I ate all of the bacon and went to look at the marvelous, wonderful, beautiful turkey. I went a little bit farther in the kitchen to help my mom cook. After a while, I went to see what my dad was doing. My dad saw my sister reading and laughing at the events in the book. “This is not the time to read, Fiona, you have work to get done right now, so go and help your mom cook,” he said. And finally the time came as we all watched as my Dad put the stuffing in, tied the strings around the turkey, bla bla bla, and into the oven it goes! Well, at least that’s what I thought so. Then my mom took some bacon out and we wrapped the whole thing with bacon. It was 2:00 p.m. now, and I couldn’t wait to have guests over, but we only had 3 hours and 30 minutes left. “Hurry, hurry, hurry,” my dad said, “we can’t wait all day!” A few hours passed, and it became 5:30. Then the oven started beeping; “Beep! Beep!” it went. We all rushed to the oven and watched as my mom and dad took the turkey out from the oven. The turkey was goldish-brownish covered with pink, juicy bacon. Man, it looked reallllllllly yummy. It made my tummy rumble really hard. Then we started placing all the items in the dining room. My sister had to find spoons, forks, and knives while I had to fill cups up with water. We just finished putting all the things on the table…until….Ding dong! “Guests?” I asked. Then another….Ding dong!....and another…Ding dong! Until all the guests came. I played with my family and friends until it was time to eat we went to the table and I zoomed into the oh, so lovely chair. My dad sat at the head of the table but I forgot who sat at the foot. But it wasn’t me, though. I don’t really like the foot of the table, but don’t ask me why. My dad cut the turkey with the bacon and I got my piece. I got all the food I wanted and dove in. Then we laughed and talked and I played games with my family and friends once more.
All along I was trying to tell you that it was the best Thanksgiving ever!
The End

Impressive language!
Casual enough and yet seriously sincere.
